About Sharon
Sharon Alexander achieved a BA in Fine Arts from Alfred University in 1989. She majored in Ceramics and minored in Psychology. She was awarded Divisional Honors from the NYS College of Ceramics, School of Art and Design. A ceramic teapot of Sharon’s was chosen for the permanent collection, The Glory Hole, at the International Museum of Ceramic Art at Alfred University.
Sharon became a studio artist working in ceramics for the next fifteen years. She created wall sculptures, jewelry, and functional wares, including containers for fresh flower arrangements. Sharon exhibited and sold her work in galleries and craft fairs throughout the east coast. She was awarded Honorable Mention at the Woodstock Artist Association Museum in Woodstock, NY. Her most recent passion is monotype printmaking.
Sharon completed certificate programs in Creative Arts Therapy from Ulster Boces, and Trauma-Informed Creative Arts Therapy from University of Albany, School of Social Welfare. She has been producing and facilitating Arts for Healing Programs since 2012. Sharon works individually and with groups, using a variety of professional art supplies as well as repurposed materials. She works with a wide range of populations including adults and children often with physical or mental health challenges.
